General information

The final album from VC took several years to complete, and was even “abandoned” at one stage. A cover image, tracklist and blurb appeared briefly on the VC website in August 2006, claiming the album would be released on Full Moon Productions later that year. On April 1st 2008, a link to another website was posted to the page, teasing something called Anise Royal, and featuring a track list which seems to be a kind of cipher or key for this album and its titles. The strange language used is supposed to allude to an invented language of Josh’s creation while in a drug induced psychosis, but seems more likely to be drawn from the ‘word painting’ style of the band Lovesliescrushing, as an exercise in euphony and aesthetics over strict meaning.

Release information

The demo version known as “Fleurmilk”, consisting of isolated guitar tracks was eventually leaked by Josh on the FMP forums, as a result of the album being “scrapped”, with two additional tracks, one of which made it to the completed vinyl edition, and another which was developed into Clair Cassis.
We’ve noticed in recent months a seller on Discogs offering what they claim is a demo version of P aa Opal Poere Pr.33, which was “sent out by the Starlight Temple Society label in 2008”. We do not believe this to be the case. The music on the tape (which is a domestic Realitech C120, not a professionally pressed cassette) is the Fleurmilk version of the album, which Josh posted himself to the FMP forums. The inlay lists the personnel as LVG & SGL producing the music and Cain on vocals, however, as mentioned, this is simply Josh’s isolated guitar tracks (aside from the opening track, which also features Josh’s vocal).

CD

The album was eventually released on 1000 limited CDs through Starlight Temple Society, which comes in a 7"x7" envelope with enclosed insert, and is printed with a quote from TS Eliot, which reads:
“I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across the floors of silent seas”
The vocals on this album are mostly performed by James Harmon, also known as Cain, of the bands Snowfall and Blight. The closing track Flouvonne is a sample from the 2001 French film God Is Great And I’m Not.

STS014

2x10”

The vinyl version of “33” is a double 10" LP. The first 250 copies came in gatefold jacket, however, due to problems with printing, the following 250 came in an envelope, printed with silver metallic ink. Both versions include a folding insert and a 10"x20" poster of a seahorse design, with the legend “We curve like violins”. This version also includes the song “Vanoria”, which was absent from the CD release. 500 copies of this double 10” were pressed in total, all on black vinyl.
