Through our efforts with the subreddit, archive site, and contacts and connections both old and new, the moderator team were recently able to establish contact with Josh himself, and submit the following questions for a brand new interview, his first since 2010. Having waited for over a decade for any musical movements from him, the silent weeks which followed almost led us to lose hope in this materialising at all. This weekend, without warning, we got our answers, with three previously unheard VC tracks posted to the band’s youtube channel.
Enjoy.

New interview with Josh (2021)
New youtube uploads
Today there have been three new uploads to the VC youtube channel. The first one is an alternative version of the ‘P aa’ track ‘Vanoria’ (described as an outtake from the 2008 Arch Cape session):
The second one is called ‘Gossypine Greige’ and is described as an outtake from the August 5th 2021 rehearsal/soundcheck. At the beginning of the track a female voice can be heard. Apparently a conversation during the recording:
The last one is ‘castleviolet petales’, which has the following description:
Guitar 2 (solo) test:
Adobe Audition (cloud set) 7.3 Portreeve Parlour
Equipment: Gretsch Country Gentleman
Horrothia TEETH
Surfy Industries Surfytrem
CXM 1978
Vox AC30
The links were also published to the band’s Instagram page.
Seidene - Locket NR.2
Josh kindly shared another new track from his new project Seidene, which continues in the same vein of ethereal and post-punk influenced instrumental material:
Seidene: new project involving Josh
Seidene is a new band featuring Josh from VC/CC. Not much is known about the project just yet, but there is one demo track available. Apparently taken from an EP titled “October 31st, 2020”. Check it out:
VC Tease New Music
Velvet Cacoon have uploaded the first track from their forthcoming release “The Saltwater Etheries” to a newly-established Youtube page. The video’s description states that this release will comprise an EP trilogy.
Another snippet of new music can be heard on the band’s Instagram page.
Official Website back online
After several years of silence the official Velvet Cacoon website has finally come back online.
It contains handwritten album titles, with one new title “The Saltwater Etheries” between “Paa Opal Poere Pr.33” and “Atropine”.
There is also some text at the bottom, which points us to a road in Oregon.
